Your privacy is important to us...

While this is possibly the least tasty corner of 280 Bakes, it means a lot to us that you know that your information is safe when you visit our website, visit our social media pages, or subscribe to my mailing list. We've put together this privacy policy to help you understand how we use and process your data.

On our website
The 280 Bakes website is hosted by Weebly. It has a valid SSL certificate which ensures three security benefits:
  • Privacy: Encrypts the connection between the browser and web server and securely transmits information (like login credentials) to prevent unauthorized parties from eavesdropping.
  • Data integrity: Prevents unauthorized parties from altering data during transmission (like during a Form Block submission).
  • Authentication: Protects against impersonation by requiring web server proof of identity.

To help us to understand our online audience, Weebly stores data when you visit our site (recorded automatically with cookies, for example), to help us understand how you use the website. This data includes your IP address, which provides general location data, for example the country you live in, although is otherwise anonymous. We use this data to see which content is most popular on our website and where visitors are based. This helps us to produce content and services which are more relevant to you.

All other data is provided by yourself, for example your name and email address when you sign up for our newsletter or submit a contact form, and is therefore provided with your consent.

You can read Weebly's privacy policy to find out how and why they use and store your data and how they keep it safe.

Subscribing to our newsletter
We have GDPR friendly forms for our mailing list, which is managed through Mailchimp. You will be requested to consent to your information being processed and, if you choose not to, you will not be subscribed to our mailing list. Prior to the GDPR changes in May 2018, all our subscribers were emailed and asked to let us know if they'd like to be unsubscribed and 'forgotten'.

The only info we collect from sign up forms and contact forms is your name and your email address. We do not request any other information, although more information may be requested later to fulfill an order. This is done at your discretion and enables us to communicate with you, for example to arrange a delivery.

We take sign ups very seriously and value each one. We state ourintentions on all sign up forms so that you know what to expect when you join us. We ourselves have been the subject of mailing lists that have not met our expectations and so we work hard to make sure that we only share quality updates and information, and not to overwhelm you or fill your mailbox with junk that will cause you stress or frustration. Emails are dealt with at 280 Bakes HQ and we do not pass your details on to colleagues and would never sell your details to another company. You are free to unsubscribe at any time and you'll find a link at the end of each of our emails to update your preferences or unsubscribe.

Read Mailchimp's privacy policy for more information about how your data is processed and stored.

Social Media Channels
You can connect with us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest. Information you post on there to public audiences will be visible to us.

We occasionally use data on Facebook to target adverts so that we can reach an audience that we feel would benefit from our services. The data we use when creating an audience consists of mainly of location and whether or not you have noted yourself as interested in veganism, to target my advertising where we feel that it is most appropriate and won't be seen as a nuisance. We only see who you are if you choose to comment on an advert or post or like my page and do not have access to any other information unless you choose to share it with us, for example your email address via a message on the page. Facebook enables you to view the data that is stored for your personal profile, download and delete it if you choose.

You can find out how Facebook is complying with GDPR and read Facebook's Privacy Principles for more information about how your data is processed and safeguarded.

Google Analytics
Like Weebly, the analytics that Google provides helps us to understand how visitors to our site interact with my content. This enables us to produce more content that is relevant and interesting to you and see how I can improve the functionality of my site.

Read how Google Analytics safeguards your data for more information

This policy will be updated regularly to reflect any changes or introduction of new services.
